UTOPIA -  NYE 2006

date: New Years Eve 2005

UTOPIA -  NYE 2006
This year, Utopia makes Sydney rave history with the first ever New Year’s Eve dance event at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Join us for a truly unprecedented party experience as we grab 2006 by the scruff of the neck and throw it on the dancefloor.

As one of Sydney’s longest running dance events, Utopia is dedicated to an unsurpassed and fulfilling NYE experience. We’ve handpicked some of this planet’s finest DJs to deliver the biggest tunes of the year across the hardcore, techno and trance spectrums on one of the country’s nastiest sound systems.

With a decade in the business, Powerhouse Productions knows exactly what you and your friends want from a New Year’s Eve party: a mind-blowing night out that’s easy to get to and too good to leave - free of hassles, ridiculous queues and attitude. On the night, you and thousands of other like-minded ravers can look forward to a massive countdown to midnight, followed by DJs till dawn. Brace yourself, this one’s going to rock the Entrainment Centre to its very foundations.

Hurry! Buy your tickets now. Make no mistake, this event will sell out so get in early to avoid disappointment!

Powerhouse Productions made history in July by staging the first ever dance party in the SEC’s 22 year history, Godspeed Darkside. Now on the final night of 2005, we return to this world-class venue for another monumental first with a New Year’s Eve experience you’ll never forget.

Located in the heart of Sydney, the SEC is the perfect NYE location, ideally positioned at the epicentre of the city’s festive celebrations. Situated on the fringe of Chinatown, it’s only a short stroll to the CBD and within watching distance of Darling Harbour’s famous NYE fireworks display.

By train or bus, the SEC is a few minutes’ walk from Central or Town Hall stations (or catch the light rail service from Central). For those driving in, there is a giant multi-story secure car park directly behind the centre. For all public transport information, check out www.131500.com.au

No one’s expectations for dance party excellence are higher than our own. The biggest night of the year demands the biggest, most advanced party production available and no one knows this better than industry leaders and Powerhouse partners, BLM.

Over the past 13 years, BLM have produced many of the most spectacular dance events throughout Australasia including Powerhouse’s own Utopia, Godspeed and Prophecy parties. This New Year’s Eve, Utopia will once again feature our formidable state-of-the-art sound system, hot-wired with a dazzling arsenal of lasers and intelligent lighting effects. These guys really do have the best toys!

Deutsch duo Nic Chaggall and Stefan Bossems have immortalised themselves with dancefloor anthems like 'The Drums', 'Mental Atmosphere', 'Exploration of Space' and 'Firewire'. As one of Germany’s biggest dance exports, their brand of high-octane trance has earnt them a place in DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll for the last three years and made them a fixture in the record crates of
DJ Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold and Ferry Corsten. With two blistering mix CDs – ‘Ministry of Sound Hi-NRG 7’ and ‘Back to Back Volume 2’ - already behind them this year, their NYE visit to Australia coincides with the completion of their third, hotly-anticipated artist album so strap yourself in for a whole new Cosmic journey.

With a sound that seamlessly combined the dark power of acid, the euphoria of trance and punching rhythm of techno, A*S*Y*S is the evil genius behind seminal anthems ‘Acid Headcracker’, ‘Acid Nightmare’, ‘Acid Save Your Soul’ and last year’s mammoth smash hit ‘No More Fucking Rock’n’Roll’ (which was later remixed by Paul Van Dyk). A*S*Y*S is none other than Frank Ellrich - the partystarter behind tracks like ‘Theme From Pharmacy’ and last year’s slamming remix of ‘The Orange Theme’. This year saw him unleash a self-titled debut album, full of ballistic basslines and maniacal 303 madness - out now on the Tracid Traxxx label.

With ten years in the scene, DJ Storm has pumped out full-throttle UK hardcore on labels like HectTech, Essential Platinum and Raver Baby and remixed the likes of Dougal, Force & Styles, Bang and Vinylgroover.  With partners Euphony and Spinback, he’s built a hardcore empire with a monstrous five (!) labels to his name including Warped Science, Destructive Force, Cloned, Underground and Moondance. With a huge array of brand new tunes, this is one Storm you’ll definitely want to get caught in.

A player in the happy hardcore game for close to a decade now, DJ Stompy aka Leigh Horton has produced over 40 records including the timeless club hits, 'I Believe' and 'Come and Follow Me'. In addition to running his own label, New Era, his tracks have earnt pride of place on compilations like Hardcore Heaven, Bonkers, Helter Skelter and Slammin' Vinyl. Having spent time whipping up a frenzy in the States, Japan and Canada, he can't wait to get down under to rip the roof off of the Ent Cent.
